Who We Are
Multi Horizons Youth and Seniors Society (MHYSS) is a Vancouver-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families facing social, economic, and systemic barriers. We work with youth, seniors, newcomers, women, equity-deserving groups, and individuals receiving government assistance through inclusive, culturally responsive, and intergenerational programs.
Our integrated service model bridges generations, reduces isolation, and strengthens community connections across Metro Vancouver.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to reduce systemic inequities by providing accessible education, wellness, and settlement support, while fostering meaningful connections across generations and cultures.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower vulnerable populations through barrier-free, culturally intelligent, and intergenerational programs that promote dignity, inclusion, and long-term well-being.
Our Vision
We envision inclusive, resilient communities where youth, seniors, and families from all backgrounds are supported, connected, and equipped to thrive—regardless of income, age, or cultural background.
Our Values
Equity & Inclusion – We prioritize those facing the greatest barriers and ensure access without cost or discrimination.
Dignity & Respect – Every individual is treated with compassion, cultural humility, and respect.
Intergenerational Connection – We believe stronger communities are built when generations support one another.
Accessibility – Our programs are designed to be barrier-free, trauma-informed, and multilingual.
Collaboration – We work closely with government, healthcare, settlement, and community partners to maximize impact.
What We Do
MHYSS delivers measurable community impact through three core pillars:
Education & Economic Inclusion
We provide free tutoring, digital literacy training, employment readiness support, and benefits navigation (including CPP, OAS, disability, and income assistance) for low-income individuals and families.
Wellness & Social Connection
We offer mental health circles, seniors’ mobility programs, food-inclusive activities, and intergenerational initiatives that reduce isolation and strengthen social bonds.
Settlement & Community Integration
We support newcomers and refugee families through culturally grounded programming, advocacy, and systems navigation that reduces administrative and settlement-related barriers.
Our Commitment to BC Communities
MHYSS is deeply committed to serving communities across British Columbia, beginning in Vancouver and Metro Vancouver, with planned expansion into Surrey and Burnaby.
We focus on addressing overlapping vulnerabilities affecting BC residents—such as newcomers on fixed incomes, youth in low-income households, and isolated seniors—through locally informed, community-driven solutions. Our long-term vision includes provincial recognition as a leading intergenerational service model and active contribution to age-friendly and settlement-informed community planning across BC.
By partnering with local organizations, healthcare providers, and government systems, we work to strengthen community resilience and create sustainable, scalable impact throughout the province.
